  • In 1888, John Miller made the decision to leave his wife and kids to run their farm, so he could go and find gold in California so that his family would never have to worry about money again. He took his eldest daughters life savings and off he went.
  • I have been walking for days and have no money to eat.

  • Excited for his journey John sets out Westward on a very crowded steamship via Panama. On the boat john got sick, making his trip very exhausting.
