  • Parson Hooper is a middle aged man who is a priest in a small village I the northern part of the united states in about the 1700s-1800s who cant bring himself to act as I he is an innocent man like everyone else.
  • Rising Action
  • Nathaniel Hawthorne portrays Parson Hooper in the beginning of the story as a depressed, confusing man. He is a man of the church , making him seem like a perfect and holy man , although Mr. Hooper himself feels the opposite.
  • Climax
  • In The Ministers Black veil, the conflict that Parson Hooper's faces is that people don't accept the veil that he constantly wears over his face and he feels ashamed to be seen without it so he cannot bring himself to take it off.
  • While wearing the veil, and refusing to all to take it away from his face, Hooper's wife leaves him because he fails to take it off. Also, he loses followers and loses the trust of some of his fellow followers.
  • The turning point of the story is When Mr. Hooper is on his death bead and reveals why he's been wearing the veil and the surrounding townspeople understand . He then dies with the veil still laying upon his face.
