In August 1914, Austria invaded Serbia and this started The Great War.
DRAFTING
On June 28th, Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated by a Serbian terrorist.
MAKE PEACE NOT WAR
ONLY WAR WILL FIX OUR PROBLEMS
The Germans used submarine warfare which the mericans thought was brutal.
Young men were drafted to fight in Europe.
Not everyone was in favor of declaring war.
The Espionage Act of 1917 imposed heavy fines and jail terms of those who were convicted of sabotaging, spying, or obstructing the war effort.
