- Hello class, today we are going to be talking about volume. Volume is very important to science.
- VOLUME
- To find volume you can use a formula. To find the volume of cubes, and rectangular prisms you would use the first formula. To find the volume of spheres use the second formula

- Another way to find volume of objects is to use a method called water displacement.
- Volume is complicated. It involves different types of solids, different ways to figure it out and even dealing with liquid.
- In life there are regular and irregular objects. Regular objects have equal sides and angles, irregular objects do not.
- These are just two of many different formulas you can use to find volumes of different shapes.
- You will also come upon the task of finding the volume of liquids.
- Water displacement is where you take a measured amount of water and place an item in. The amount of water will increase and you subtract the number you started with from the number you have now. It is a simple way to measure volume using only water.

- When using irregular objects it is much better to use water displacement because it would be harder to measure lengths,widths, etc.
- To find the volume of liquids you use graduated cylinders and beakers. You need a form that can hold water and tell you how much is in it. You pour the liquid in your graduated cylinder and then see how much the volume is based on the tick marks from the cylinder.
