Storyboard Text

  • They decide to use the inverse of sin. SinX=1200/1500. They find out that the sun's rays are at an angle of 53.1 degrees
  • While the kids are playing volleyball, the parents decide to catch some rays. They assume the sun is about 1200 feet high and they think they're 1500 feet away from it. They want to know the angle of the sun's rays so that they can get a good tan.
  • When the kids were playing volleyball, they accidentally hit the ball into the tree.
  • By using that, they find out that the ball is 27.4 feet away from them
  • The kids are standing 10 ft away from the tree at an angle of 70 degrees. So they decide to use Tan70=X/10
  • If he's 6.5 feet tall, he wonders how far away he is standing from the base of the light house. By using Tan45=68.5/X
  • While the mom is asleep, the dad decides to explore down the coastline of the beach. He comes across a 75 foot light house at angle of elevation of 45 degrees.
  • He discovers that he is 68.5 ft away from the light house.
  •  Mom, Chris and Victoria are playing frisbee on the beach in a triangular formation. Victoria and mom are 15 ft apart. The angle between Mom, Victoria and Chris is 35 degrees.
  •  The angle between mom, Chris, and Vic is 55 degrees.  They wonder what the distance is between mom and Chris. They use the law of sines, Sin35/X=Sin55/15. They discover that Chris is 50 ft away from the mom
  • While the dad is exploring, he spots a bird in a tree. The tree is 25 ft tall and the dad is standing 50 ft away.  What is the angle at which he's looking at it?
  • He decides to use the inverse of Tangent. (TanX=25/50). The angle is 26.6 Degrees
  • After playing on the beach, they decide to go to the boardwalk & ride some rides. The kids go on a chair ride that shoots you up 50 ft. The mom is watching her kids at an angle of 35 degrees. How far away is she from the base of the ride?
  • She uses Tan36=50/X. The distance of the mom from the base is 71.4 ft away
