Produce offspring with longer necks
Parents with longer necks
Male giraffes fight in order to mate with a female by ‘necking’.
The giraffe with the stronger and longer neck would win and therefore win the right to mate with a female.
The stronger Giraffe then reproduces, passing on the traits of a longer neck onto its offspring.
Many theories have been produced and considered about how the Giraffe has evolved into the long necked animal that we know today, however scientists are still unsure of how their necks came to be.
