The Witches meet in the heath to discuss the Macbeth prophecy and plan on meeting him.
The thane of Ross informs king Duncan that the Thane of Cawdor is a traitor so he has been captured. Subsequently, Macbeth is named the new Thane of Cawdor. King Duncan also learns about the defeat of Macdonwald.
Banquo and Macbeth come across the three witches while heading back to Forres. They tell Macbeth that he will become the thane of Cawdor, they then speak to Banquo and tell him that his son will become a king.
The previous Thane of Cawdor has finally been executed. Then, King Duncan announces that Malcom will become his successor (King) and that Macbeth is the new thane of Cawdor.
Lady Macbeth learns about the witches prophecy through Macbeth's letter. She wants to aid Macbeth in the plot to kill king Duncan because she fears that he is to kind.
Macbeth is conflicted on whether or not he should murder king Duncan. Lady Macbeth convinces Macbeth by telling him he will be seen as a coward in her eyes if he doesn't kill king Duncan.
