Storyboard Text

  • Paraphrase
  • Sweet just like TRUTH
  • Connotation
  • These roses are so beautiful. Kind of like TRUTH.
  • Tone
  • Truth is crazy important.
  • The truth is sweet, but can be hurtful and dangerous. Truth is not respected at time when it should be. The sonnets last lines tell the youth of today to speak only truth because you ''fade" fast.
  • Shifts
  • Shakespeare uses the metaphors of "sweet odour" and "thorns" of roses to explain how truth can be a great thing(odor) or can also be very dangerous(thorns).
  • Title
  • Yo you beautiful just like TRUTH.
  • The tone of the sonnet is very informal and eye opening to the fact that truth is a powerful thing in life.
  • Theme
  • Yeah. Lit.
  • The shift is in the last two sentences where he goes from metaphorical speech to addressing his audience and telling the true meaning of the writing.
  • K.
  • The title which was believed to be about beauty and the beauty of an object (a rose) was proven wrong. We learned that the actual beauty is truth. "How much more beautiful could truth be." Like the beauty of a rose.
  • Thanks?
  • The theme of the sonnet is the beauty of truth. There are hardships and "thorns" but in the end it is a beautiful thing. Shakespeare encourages the youth to start telling then truth now and refrain from lying before they "vade" or die.( this is stated in the last lines)
  • Lets tell the truth from now on. Cool?
