Storyboard Description

Jeanette starts seventh grade at the highschool in Welch. Dinitia Hewitt also attends this school but they do not talk because of the opinions of the community on races mixing. Dinitia starts to fall down a bad path and ends up pregnant. She stops attending school and later Jeannette finds out she's in jail for stabbing her boyfriends mother. Girls at school are always talking about how far they have gone with their boyfriends but no boys are pursuing Jeannette. She believes that she is ugly and her smile is her biggest insecurity. She wants braces but can’t afford them so she makes them herself. One night her father discovers her invention, and he is very proud of her creative design. Jeannette begins her first job and is bullied by a reporter because of her poor hygiene and rough appearance. Her job opens her eyes to the real world for the first time. She reads the true news stories and doesn’t only get the skewed version that her parents tell her.
