  • Testable Question
  • Design an Experiment
  • I wonder? If an animal has a short reaction time then they will have a better chance of survival because the their interval between the stimulus and the reaction is shorter than usual?
  • Conduct Research
  • I have conducted research on the topic and I have found out that an animal will move because of a change in their environment. The reaction is controlled by their central nervous system. The brain can detect changes to the environment and then the sensory an motor neurons make the response.
  • Hypothesis
  • I have formed a hypothesis and I say that if a male has a better reaction time then they have a better chance of survival over a female because they have a shorter stimulus to reaction interval.
  • The experiment will be conducted in this way. I will have a computer that stays in the same area. I will gather a group of 7th grade boys an girls. I then will pick some sports for them to do. The control group that does not receive the treatment will be the people who do not engage in the physical activities. I will use a thermometer to record their temperatures (using the same thermometer) and then I will have them take an online reaction test. That is how I will conduct this experiment.
  • Analyze data
  • ------
  • The results are in that the male group of subjects had a better reaction time!

  • Draw a Conclusion
  • My conclusion is that my hypothesis was correct because the male athletes had a better overall reaction time than the female athletes. I think in the future that if I were to do this again I would have the subjects take the reaction test 10 times each for more data. That is my conclusion.
