Exposition: In the beginning, Thomas is held in solitary confinement by the WICKED Organization. Thomas is eventually released by Janson, the Rat Man.
Taken captive by WICKED again.....
Initial Conflict: The Flare plague is wiping out most of the human race. There are only a few humans who are immune to the Flare, they are known as the Immunes. Thomas is one of the Immunes. Janson, the Assistant Director of WICKED, is succumbing to the Flare virus, and is desperate to find a cure. Janson reads out the names of people who are not immune to the Flare, and Thomas is devastated to find out that his good friend Newt is not immune.
There is no purpose in escaping Immunes, as people in the outside world despise you.
Rising Action: Thomas sees Newt, who has the Flare. Newt begs Thomas to end his suffering by killing him. Thomas shoots Newt in the head as an act of mercy.
Climax: Thomas arrives at WICKED Headquarters looking to find a cure for the Flare. Thomas learns that in order to complete the cure, he must undergo a deadly brain surgery. Thomas is forced to begin the surgery, yet, he later wakes up to find himself alive with a note from the head of WICKED, Chancellor Dr. Ava Paige. She explains that WICKED has enough resources from the Trials to make a blueprint for the cure; his brain is not needed after all.
WICKED, here I come!!!
Falling Action: After fleeing WICKED Headquarters, the Immunes escape through a Flat Trans portal that leads to a lush paradise. There, the Immunes can survive the collapse of the rest of the world and afterwards rebuild the human race.
Resolution: Chancellor Paige, reveals that the Flare plage had been deliberately created by the government and released as a form of population control. The government believed that the Flare would kill quickly and soon stop spreading, yet, once released the government lost control of it. WICKED tried to find a cure, and was not able to.
