Dad? What's the difference between the water in the lake and the water from home? Ours is cleaner than this stuff!
Well Jackson, the water from home could be the same water that's in here. It's just the water from home has gone through a special process with speical chemicals.
Certain chemicals release a lot of chlorine when we put them in the water. And chlorine helps to get rid of bacteria, algae, grease and oils from the water we have at home.
We realized that some of these chemicals, like one called Sodium dichloroisocyanurate, isn't that good for fish. If there's too much, it's highly toxic to aquatic animals and may cause long-term damage in the environment. So we have to be careful.
And people work everyday to make sure we don't get too much of those chemicals in our water at home too.
