There was once a very lonely 16-year-old girl named Nik. Her real name was Nicole, but she didn't like it. She always dressed in black and didn't speak to anyone.
She was very shy because she was mocked a lot. She was half Sioux Indian and half Irish so this gave her very strange coloring and height. She and her family were in the Witness Protection Program, because her father was ex-CIA and some bad people were after them.
But one day, those people came to their house and killed their mother, as a warning to the father. So they moved to an old house that they shared with another family. There was a boy the same age as Nik who had also lost his mother, but to a fire.
Slowly Nik opened up. She talked to Jackson and they became friends when their fathers told them that they were in the WPP for the same reason.
But tragedy quickly struck and this time only Jackson and Nik remained. Thrown into a horrid orphanage, neither could see hope.
