Storyboard Text

  • Title
  • Instant/delayed gratification in videogames
  • Boy in his room playing a world-building game on his phone
  • YES! I finally have enough gold to upgrade my rocket to level 60!
  • He veiws long it will take to upgrade something
  • Upgrade time: 2 weeks
  • speed up for 1000 gems
  • He is too impatient to wait so he wastes his money on instant gratification
  • I don't want to wait that long!!! i'll just use all my allowance on in-app purchases to get the nessesary game currency and speed it up
  • If he had waited for delayed gratification, he would have earned his upgrade and kept his money.
  • Two weeks later...
  • I finally have my upgrade! And my allowance as well!
  • Storyboard by Wesley Ridenour
  • So instant gratification is when you want something enough you can't wait until you can get it the right way, so you give up something else valuable to get it now. And delayed gratification is waiting until you can get what you want the right way, without losing anything else valuable to you.
