  • Major Wars of Rome: The Punic Wars 264 BC-146 BC
  • Second Punic War: Africa 219-201 BC
  • Rome defeated Carthage as they created new naval tactics which involved hooking the enemy ship, then boarding the ship and attacking. With this successful tactic, Rome won the war and earned the territory of Sicily.
  • What in the world is this? This is nonsense, years of naval warfare ruined.
  • Third Punic War 149-146 BC
  • Never, I shall die with my ship!
  • First Punic War 264-241 BC
  • Our tactics have been proven successful. Now ready to surrender?
  • Effects of the War First War: -Rome created a new naval tactic and gained the territory of Sicily and a few other islands -Carthage lost the territory of Sicily and a few islands Second War: -Rome gained a lot of territories (Spain, Northern Africa, and major islands). But, they lost a lot of allies and turned east to defeat them. -Carthage was forced to sign a treaty, and had to lose the land of Spain, their navy, and had to pay Rome the next 50 years. Third War: -Rome acquired slaves (defeated citizens), valuable objects (that were taken), and became the most dominant power in this time period -Carthage completely disappeared after the war. As citizens became slaves, the city got burned and dumped into the sea, and salt was put, so there was no chance for life to survive there
  • A Carthage general invades Italy from the North but is unable to attack Rome because of its fortified walls. However, they were able to win many crucial battles, and take many of Rome's allies.
  • But the wall is too strong to bring down.
  • Second Punic War: Italy 219-201 BC
  • We need to attack Rome itself to win this war!
  • We must fight from the outside then
  • After being defeated in Italy, Roman ships sailed to Carthage and defeated them outside of the city. With this victory, a treaty was signed, and Rome acquired northern Africa, Spain and many islands. Carthage also had to pay money to Rome for over 50 years.
  • Excellent
  • Outside the city walls
  • We have arrived north of the land sir.
  • Where will we be fighting?
  • After the war, Some Romans were afraid that Carthage would rise again, and demanded them to move north away from the sea trade. However, they refused and a new war began. Carthage is easily defeated leaving the whole city burned, and the population sold to slavery. Carthage is gone forever with no chance of revival.
  • We need to push for a war, Carthage is returning to its former state
  • Let's at least try to stop their sea trade and move them north
  • What is the point, we have already defeated them!
