Storyboard Text

  • By 1792, every state as far south as Virginia had anti-slavery societies. The south still supported it.
  • Slavery is not right!!!
  • William Lloyd Garrison started a controversial abolitionist newspaper, The Liberator. He was a powerful leader in this movement
  • We need to speak out and end slavery for good with the Abolitionist Movement!
  • Garrison demanded the immediate freeing of all slaves
  • Yeah!
  • I will be as harsh as the truth, I will not retreat a single inch- and I will be heard!
  • I agree!
  • Boooo!!!
  • This will not stop me from ending slavery
  • Infuriated pro slavery groups destroyed Garrison's printing press and burned his house
  • Garrison gained supporters that included Fredrick Douglass and Sojourner Truth, both who are escaped slaves
  • How will we ever end slavery?
  • We need to keep fighting!
  • I sure hope so
  • God will end slavery peacefully
  • The Abolitionist Movement did not totally end slavery but it did change northerners attitudes toward slavery. The anti-slavery fight also helped pave the way for the movement on women's rights.
