English Greek mythology
There was once a sun God called Apollo who was very popular among the people of Greece. This was partly because he had a very special power where he could see into the future. People would often go up to his temple and ask the god questions about there future and he would answer them.
However as time progressed, more and more people kept questioning Apollo about their futures and because of this he grew angry and tired. This motivated him to search for an assistant to help him with the questions that were being asked.
One day Apollo found a young girl who was priestess and he gave her powers so she could see into the future, however she could only tell the truth, but she couldn't be to specific otherwise people would become too afraid.
Apollo built a temple for her and so it became her new home. As time passed word spread that Apollo had an oracle that could tell the future, however she could only tell the future.
One day a king who was heading into battle with another king wanted to know what the outcome of the battle would be, so he headed to the oracle's temple and asked what would happen. She looked at him, smiled, and gently said, "A great king will win the battle". The king became pleased after hearing this and left many gifts for the oracle.
However during the battle the king that had met the oracle had lost the battle, and died with most of his army. What the king hadn't understood was that although the oracle could only tell the truth she didn't have to be specific about it.
