‘Tssssss,’the amazing smell of pancakes hits me as the bright morning sun blurs my eyes.I quickly jump out of bed and run downstairs to the kitchen.
Mum I want pancakes right now!!
Whatever just give me pancakes!!
Ben it is time you get manners and learn not to be so selfish, I want you to walk up and down this street 10 times.
Ben can you please quiet down your father is still in bed, he had a busy day yesterday running the bank.
I have no clue why Mum wants me to walk up and down our street 10 times. I stare at a small house and I see that the whole house is a wreck. It has cracked windows and walls, the tiles on the roof are crumbling down and the small garden is covered with long weeds. I can’t stand it any longer looking at the house so I move on.
Outside the next house all I hear is shouting and yelling by a young couple, then I hear something smashing of a plate I assume and it goes as silent as a library. I move on.
Then next house reeked like a sewer. I’ve been in this house before. Mum made them coffee cookies but I don’t know why. Then I remember this house didn’t have a single toilet, bath or shower. You either had to wash yourself in the kitchen sink or with a bucket of water and to go to the toilet, don’t ask me about that one.
I finish walking up and down nine time our street and I finally find out why mum made me do this. Mum, Dad, and I are the only people in our street that has a big beautiful house that is not falling apart, has food to eat and water to drink, clean water to cook and wash with and a toilet. The best is that my whole family loves each other. I have so much stuff and yet I am still selfish and ungrateful.
