  • Scientific Method
  • Today we will be talking about the scientific method using an example.
  • First: Ask a question.
  • Scientific Method
  • The scientific method is a series of steps used to conduct an experiment.
  • It starts with the question we will use; "How much sunlight does a plant need?
  • Second: Conduct Research and form a hypothesis.
  • I'm outta here!!!
  • Next, we do some research, and form a testable hypothesis.
  • Our hypothesis can be "If sunlight affects plant height, then a plant will grow taller than plants exposed to no sunlight, because plants need the sun for photosynthesis."
  • Third: Design and execute your experiment
  • We can put one plant in this box, and the other plant will be left alone.
  • Aren't you forgetting the constants? We have to keep the same plants, the same check times, and the same water!
  • After that, we can design an experiment to test our hypothesis.
  • Fourth: Collect data and create a conclusion.
  • HAHAHAHAHA! HAHAHAHAHA! HAHAHAHA!
  • That just means, in our conclusion, we can write that our hypothesis was supported, after we get a graph up and running.
  • Plant 1        Plant 2 9 in              9 in 10 in            8.75 in 11.5 in         8.5 in
  • My plant didn't even grow, but yours did!!
  • THE END
