On the 22nd of January 1905, the Orthodox priest, Gregory Gapon lead about 200,000 people to the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg.
Being peasant in Russia was really hard. They lived in a poor environment, and they had to work with low incomes. In 1905, they decided to do a petition and wanted 2 things: Firstly the wanted to reduce the work hours to 8 hours a day, and secondly they wanted to provide a minimum wage of a rouble a day.
I am helping the peasants doing this petition because we think we are not treated fair enough!
The protestants kept on going, so the troops started shooting them.
There were about 200 people dead, and 800 people were wounded.
The 22nd of January 1905 the soldiers burned all the dead people secretly.
