There are 3 types of lung cancer. There is non-small cell, which is the most common. There's small cell and lung carcinoid tumor, which is fairly rare. There are about 221,200 cases a year and 158,040 deaths a year. Lung cancer affects both men and women. Also, smokers and people over 50.
The symptoms are a very bad cough, chest pains, hoarseness, weight loss, loss of appetite, weak or tired, and wheezing. If one of my family members got lung cancer, they would have to have many treatments done and have a lot of prescriptions. It would impact me because I would have to help them.
One uncontrollable factor is asbestos. Asbestos is a material that was used in insulation for houses. Other uncontrollable factors are radon and your genetics.
One important controllable risk factor is to stop smoking.
You can prevent lung cancer by avoiding tobacco smoke, stop smoking, and taking vitamins or having treatments done.
