  • Hamlet asks Polonius about his history as an actor. What Polnius says is foreshadowing his up-coming death.
  • Just act crazy Hamlet!!
  • "My lord, you played once i' th' university, you say?"
  • Oh, yes! I enacted Julius Caesar. "I was killed i' th' Capitol. Brutus killed me.
  • The actor acts out in the play a man murders a king by pouring poison into his ear. Claudius immediately stops the play.
  • He's Guilty!!
  • Poison
  • "Give me some light. Away!"
  • Polonius tells the king of his plan to hide in Gertrude’s room and observe Hamlet’s conversation with her.
  • I asked Rosencrantz and Guildenstern to escort Hamlet to England. He is dangerous.
  • Ok. I'm going to hide in the Queen's room and observe Hamlet’s confrontation with her
  • Killing him while he is praying would make him go to heaven. That would be doing him a favor!!
  • Hamlet enters the room and is about to seize the opportunity to kill Claudius. However, he realizes that if he kills Claudius while he is praying, he will end the king’s life at the moment when he was seeking forgiveness for his sins, sending Claudius’s soul to heaven. At that moment, he remains in inaction and disobeys what his father told him to do. There is dramatic irony here because Claudius wasn't praying and accepts that he will go to hell
  • "My words fly up, my thoughts remain below. Words without thoughts never to heaven go."
  • Hamlet exclaims his intention to make Gertrude fully aware of the her sins. She calls for help and Polonius jumps out from the tapestry. Hamlet kills him thinking it's Claudius.
  • HELP!!
  • Sit down, mother. You won’t move until I hold a mirror up to you to see the type of person you are. Who is that? "How now! a rat?"
  • I got Claudius once and for all!
  • "O, I am slain!"
  • Hamlet sees the ghost but Gertrude sees nothing Hamlet tries to convince his mother that he is not mad but has been pretending all along. He urges her to not commit any sins with Claudius.
  • No, I don't see him. "And breath of life, I have no life to breathe / What thou hast said to me."
  • Do you see father? No? Mother, I am not crazy. I've been pretending the entire time. I ask you to repent to God and stop committing sins with Claudius. Please! Also, don't share this secret.
