  • Let's jump into this water, like an elephant in the sand. 
  • Diction: Metaphor Diction: Personification
  • I'd rather not, that water will swallow me whole.
  • Syntax: Parallelism Syntax: Polysyndeton
  • Are you afraid to swim, to float, to sink?
  • Don't be mean and cruel and offended!
  • There is nothing as fun as swimming, nothing as amusing as swimming, nothing as satisfying as swimming. 
  • Syntax: Epistrophe
  • Oh come on it's not that big of a deal. 
  • Alyssa and Gabe went to an island. Alyssa thought they were going to go swimming, but it turns out Gabe is afraid of the water.
  • 
  • How about I hop in first? And you come after?
  • I won't promise you anything
  • Alyssa starts to make fun of Gabe, but Gabe gets really offended and a little mad. 
  • Diction: Simile, Sarcasm
  • Very funny, but I'm still not very impressed or happy about this.
  • Just get in the water is as cool as a cat.
  • Alyssa begins to tell Gabe how much fun swimming is, but Gabe doesn't think that it is such a big deal. Alyssa obviously wants to show him. 
  • Syntax: Antimetabole
  • Alyssa then begins to move closer to the water and proposes that she go in first and if he wanted to, Gabe could follow.
  • Alyssa finally gets in the water, but Gabe also decides to put his feet in and see what it feels like.
  • Gabe finally decides to join Alyssa in the water and he starts to have a lot of fun. Little do they know, Gabe's fear may come true because there is a shark in the water. 
  • Wow Alright, I'm so glad I got in, Thank You!
  • I told you, one should swim to have fun, not have fun to swim.
