Storyboard Text

  • People are like animals, with an instinct to start chaos in their state of war. I've seen this in the English Civil Wars.
  • I wish there was a government that could control their impulses.
  • In this, people should not have the right to protest- they should be under complete control of the sovereignty.
  • Governments should be absolute in monarchy in order to protect us from ourselves.
  • I should write a book on this. I'll call it Leviathan.
  • I have an idea!
  • The people of England have heard Hobbes and seen absolute monarchy in our past sovereigns, so today we protest!
  • People will do the right thing if given education in their state of nature. I've seen this in the Glorious Revolution.
  • I wish there was a government that could preserve a person's natural rights to life, liberty, and property.
  • In this, people should have the right to protest- the people should be their own sovereigns.
  • Governments should be constitutional in monarchy in order to preserve our goodness and rights.
  • I should write a book on this. I'll call it Two Treatises of Government
  • I have an idea!
  • I am John Locke, and I believe that the nature of human kind is good. Their goodness and rights need to be preserved.
  • However, we both accept the concept of a social contract, and reject divine right. To have a successful society, people must find reliance on each other rather than a religion.
  • Thomas Hobbes and John Locke are modernly infamous philosophers, and their teachings have and will travel through generations.
  • I am Thomas Hobbes, and I believe that the nature of humankind is evil. Their evil needs to be controlled.
