The title- "I hear America Singing", might imply that there is the national anthem involved.
The poem repeats the same thing for every worker in America. As they are doing their daily roles, they are singing. They are in different places at different times but are all singing.
Whitman portrays the characters in the poem to be enjoying what theyre doing. THe motive of the effect is to motivate and create a sense of positivity among citizens of America.
Using words like "blithe"," strong", "delicious", "robust" and "friendly" suggests an attitude of positivity and euphoria.
A shift occurs at the third stanza. "The day what belongs to the day- At night, the party of young fllows, robust, friendly, singing, with open mouths, their strong melodious songs. The previous part shows them individually working but at the end, their "songs" are united into a melodious song and it mentions a party of young fellow at the end
After reading the poem, i interpreted the title incorrectly. It had nothing to do with the national anthem. The new insight the title provides "I hear America Singing is that the Singing comes from the individual persons.
The poem is saying that we should love what we do and enjoy which he portrays through the people in the poem who were singing. Do not take it for granted.
