Hurry lads! We need to leave - NOW! We'll die otherwise.
I'm outta here!
Come on guys, lets do this for Rome (and the hope of getting all the girls afterwards!)
Tarquinius the Proud and Lars Porsena, the king of Clusium, marched towards Rome to try and conquer it.
We need to chop it down!
However, when the Roman Army saw the size of that of the Etruscans, they fled.
However, Horatius (Cocles), and two of his friends, Spurius (Lartius), and Titus (Herminius), weren't quite such big wusses, and rushed to defend the bridge that (clue's in the name) bridged the River Tiber. It was narrow, and so they realised that the entire army couldn't just all rush on to it at once.
Great job sir! Here's your reward!
Thanks very much!
Whilst the trio were defending the bridge, the Romans finally regained some of their supposed dignity and companionship, and began to cut the bridge down, in the hope to destroy the attack once and for all.
Just before the bridge crashed down to the river, Horatius ordered his friends to retreat. He then prayed to the River Tiber, and jumped in to the river before the bridge fell.
Horatius was crowned a hero, and was given as much land as he could plough in a day!
