Storyboard Text

  • On June 17, 1972 many burglars were arrested in Washington, D.C by the Watergate buildings. They were caught stealing copies of top-secret documents and they bugged the phones.
  • Later they found out Nixon wasn't being truthful. A couple days after the break-in he provided lots of money to the burglars. After that Nixon tried to instruct the CIA to prevent the investigation the the water gate crime.
  • Nixon testified before a jury about his crimes, and they also testified that Nixon had recorded tapes of every conversation he had. He later ordered to be fired, and these events were known as ¨The Saturday Night Massacre¨.
  • The Supreme Court ordered President Nixon to turn over the tape recordings, and this later resulted in him resigning since he was found guilty.
  • President Nixon was voted to get impeached for obstruction of justice, abuse of power, criminal cover-up, and many other offences of the constitution.
  • His abuse of his power had a effect on Americans which created an atmosphere of no trust. Americans were also very disappointed because it added to another thing that was bad in that decade.
