  • I like to work here.
  • Honey, look. Let me show you how to pick the cotton.
  • George, look at what just arrived! This Cotton Gin is amazing!
  • How does this work?
  • I can't believe that we lost our jobs after working in the plantation for so long.
  • This is unfair!
  • We now have to travel across the country to a new city.
  • Charles works with his father, George, his mother, Alexandra, and his two sisters in the cotton industry, in Iken England.
  • Hello little boy. I can help you. I can take care of you.
  • I can't find my family, what am I going to do now?
  • The Seed Drill and Cotton Gin arrive to the plantation, making cotton easier to produce, with the need of less workers.
  • This city is huge! I have never seen something like this.
  • This is my railroad factory where you will be working. Be thankful I gave you this job.
  • Charles and his family loose their jobs in the cotton plantation and have to move to the city of Chelmsford to find new jobs.
  • On the way to Chelmsford, Charles and his family make a stop. Charles gets lost and is found by Mr. Edwards, who takes him into the city of Ipswich.
  • Mr. Edwards allows Charles to live in his home and takes him to work in his railroad factory, along with other children.
  • After working continuous hours, in harsh conditions, a piece of metal falls on Charles' leg, severely breaking it.
