The Exposition is when the voice of the main character talks about an old man. he describes the man as having an unusual eye that creeps the main character out. Because of the eye, the main character wants to kill the old man. However, he didn't kill him because his eye was closed.
Self vs. Self - The main character is contemplating whether or not to kill the man because of his eye. He wasn't sure of what to do because he only wanted to kill him when his eye was open when he was sleeping.
The man peeks through the old man's door continuously every night for seven nights. Finally on the eighth night, he decided to go through with it, because on the eighth night, the old man's eye was open.
The main character killed the old man, dismembered his body, and hid the remains under the floor board.
The neighbors heard screaming and called the police. The police arrived and investigated the home. They did not find the old man or evidence of foul play. The man invited the officers to stay and chat.
The man was starting to go crazy and heard his own heart because of hoe nervous he was that they were going to find out that he was the one who murdered the old man. he started to throw chairs and furniture, and confesses to the police that he killed the old man.
