Stanley dug up a lipstick bottle that Kate Barlow used to own. He did not know that she used to own it, but the initials on the container (KB) looked very familiar to him.

Mr. Pendanski tells Stanley that he has better luck teaching a shovel to read and write after he found out about the lessons. Zero then, hits Mr. Pendanski with a shovel and runs away from the camp.
A few days passed after Zero ran away, Stanley decides to see if Zero is still alive and tries to find him. Also, he wanted to see the mountain that looks like a big thumb because he knew that's where his great-great grandfather lost his fortune.
Stanley found Zero, and together they found Stanley's great-great grandfather's fortune. Then, Stanley's lawyer went there to get Stanley because she found out that Stanley was actually innocent. Stanley's lawyer took Zero with them because after Zero ran away from camp, the Warden decided to erase his records, so now there is no evidence that Zero committed a crime.
