  • An antihero is usually a main character in a story who is flawed or lacks heroic attributes.
  • Non-example
  • Henry Fleming can be classified as an antihero during the first part of the book, but also a hero during the second part of the book.
  • Henry does not know whether to run and stay safe or stay and fight like a man when the time comes. He ends up running away during his first battle and feels like a coward. However, when he finds his regiment, he lies to them and says he fought and was even shot in the head even though he actually ran away and was only hit on the head with a rifle.
  • After running like a coward and lying, Henry feels and guilty and wants to prove himself. In the battle after his first, he fight bravely and with purpose. He shows that he is a strong man and a hero.
