Phineas Gage was the boss of the railroad construction team because he made good decisions and knew how to solve problems well, Phineas was also in charge of blowing up rocks with his apprentice using the tamping process where they would put gun powder in a hole drilled into the rock using a tamping iron with the pointed end, then put sand over it as a plug, and pat and press it down with the fat end, then put a fuse in and light it. Nobody knows what, but something distracted Phineas while he before he put in the sand, the dry gun powder exploded and shot the spear-shaped tamping iron through his head.
After Phineas's accident there was a journey to make to town for medical help that was 30 minuted. throughout this time Phineas was writing in his journal and taking note of the things that happened to him. This amazing act means that Phineas was not only alive, but awake and able to understand things.
As a crazy result of the accident Phineas was still awake and would tell his story to anybody who would listen. Later the doctor came to tend to Phineas's wounds
when the doctor came, he put Phineas to rest with several bandages and other things to protect his head and made him rest with his head elevated so it can drain the pus and infection that was in the hole that exposed Phineas's brain
The end of Phineas's story was 11 years later, he seemed to recover but he was never really him anymore, Phineas had the tamping iron go through the part of the brain that makes good decisions so the pure emotions came through without a filter.
