Storyboard Text

  • Hello! We are going to talk about the human nature and the government. I'm Locke.
  • I'm Voltaire
  • I'm Hobbes
  • I'm Montesquie
  • I'm Rousseau
  • I believe that ''all mankind being all equal and independent, no one ought to harm another in his life, health, liberty or possessions''. So I also believe that all men are naturally nice.
  • I disagree, I believe that all men are selfish and cruel. ''It is not wisdom but authority that makes a law''.
  • Well ''I might not agree with your opinion, but I am willing to give my life for your right to express it.''
  • ''I believe that the less you think, the more people will agree with you''.
  • But even so, I think the government should hold all power. That no one else should do anything but to do what the government says.
  • People are usually influenced by their environment. ''What wisdom can you find that is greater than kindness? Insults are the arguments employed by those who are in the wrong. It is too difficult to think nobly when one thinks only of earning a living.''
  • Well for one to not have to much power, the power should be divided into 3 branches of government: legislative, executive, and judicial.
  • Another way some people call the Age of Enlightenment is the Age of Reason. The difference between Enlightenment thinkers and Scientists are that Enlightenment thinkers study natural world, while Scientist study human world.
  • And thus the famous philosophers we know today as part of the "Age of Enlightenment" during 1600-1800 or the 17th-19th century, we still talk and think about who is right. To be enlightened means to gain knowledge or wisdom.
