In the book I'm reading, "The Forgotten Warrior" by Erin Hunter, a stranger appears among the clans, spinning a web of deceit and pitting cats against cats, so that no one knows who to trust. The setting in this book is Thunderclan territory, with the camp hidden by tall, oak trees and thick tendrils of thorny brambles protecting the camp from outsiders. Green bushes obscure the thorns from the naked eye. North-east of the camp entrance is the network of tunnels from the old days that connect Thunderclan territory to Windclan territory.
This setting impacts the plot and helps shape part of the conflict because Sol, the antagonist, uses these tunnels to attack Thunderclan, along with some Windclan cats unexpectedly, but thanks to one of the main character's amazing hearing ability, Dovewing, she managed to get patrols to counter this invasion. While Sol was the main, hidden conflict, the protagonists facing off against him are Jayfeather, Dovewing, Lionblaze, and Ivypool.
