*Mr. Rainsford is falling off of the yacht into the canal*
Prior to this scene Mr. Rainsford and Mr. Whitney had a discussion over whether or not jaguars have feelings about being hunted. Mr. Rainsford sided that jaguars did not have feelings about being hunted for they have no understanding; Mr. Whitney sided that jaguars do have feelings about being hunted
"Don't be alarmed, I'm no robber. I fell off a yacht. My name is Sanger Rainsford of New York City."
Previously Rainsford fell off the yacht and into the canal. After falling into the canal Rainsford swam to a chateau and found General Zarroff's house where he met Ivan shown in the picture.
*Ivan's thumb raises to the hammer of the revolver*
*preexistent scenes* General Zaroff and Mr. Rainsford took a tour around General Zaraff's house. While on the tour they talked amongst themselves. Mr. Rainsford quickly learned that General Zaroff is suspicious man. General Zaroff considers himself to be too good to hunt anything but one that can reason. Mr. Rainsford is not happy with General Zaroff because the only animal that can reason is a human.
*In this scene, General Zaroff is showing Rainsford the cliff of rock that the Spanish sailors, kept in his cellar, crashed into leaving them stranded and needing help.*
