  • Man vs. Nature
  • Man vs. Society
  • Man, do I love hunting people.
  • That is so wrong!
  • In the story, Rainsford and Zaroff get into many man versus man situations. At the end of the story, Rainsford gets Zaroff’s gun and shoots him.
  • Man vs. Himself
  • Rainsford has a challenge to escape the hunter. Admid his escape, he comes into contact with quick sand. He must fight nature and become unstuck.
  • In the story, Zaroff believed hunting the stranded and weak was okay. Society doesn’t believe it is moral , so there are laws preventing this from happening. This is an example of man versus society because there is something that a man wants to do, but society prevent tries to prevent him from doing so.
  • Rainsford has the problem of battling with his thoughts. He has so much adrenaline that he begins thinking hastily. Rainsfor his against his own mind in the situation of being hunted. Rainsford then has to think about setting a trap or running away.
