- a king and a queen who had a son named Oedipus. They were in charge of a kingdom named Thebes, after their son was born they went to a “reader,” who informed them that their son, when grown up, would kill his father and marry his mother.
- The king and queen did not want this so the king ordered a shepard to pin his ankles together and leave him far away to be eaten by vultures.
- The Shepard couldn’t do that so instead he takes him to a city 10 miles away and the new king and queen adopt him as their own.
- When Oedipus is older he hears of the myth about him and runs away so he couldn’t kill his “parents.” While on the road a man tried to run him off, but that wasn’t a good way to settle it so they had a sword fight where Oedipus killed the man and was on his way.

- He got into the kingdom after defeating the sphinxes riddle and he was proclaimed a hero, and then married the queen, because her husband was just murdered.

- Later on, he has 4 children with her just to find out that his wife is actually his mom, and he murdered his father. A new king is put in place, Oedipus is exiled, two brothers fight for the power of the kingdom and they end up killing each other.
