  • 1824 John adams in the corrupt bargain!
  • 1828 election common man for president
  • 1828 tariff of abominations!
  • For once every candidate has the same political party, and while Jackson got the most votes, John Quincy Adams got the most electoral votes and began his presidency.
  • South carolina Nullification
  • Usually the rich and wealthy got president, however this time a common man stood up and became president
  • Worcester vs. Georgia
  • Once the government put a price on foreign goods, the south suffered, they call it the tariff of abominations.
  • trail of tears
  • The south didn't like the new higher tariff, South Carolina stood up and threatened to secede. They compromised and the tariff lowered, and the south stayed.
  • Some missionary people and natives didn't want to move. They took it to court, but failled. The missionaries got sentenced to four years hard labor and the indians was forced to walk the trail of tears.
  • As the Cherokee tribe got kicked out officially they made them move out. It was winter time and it got extremely cold and their new land had no resources to grow food, it wiped out a good fourth of the population.
