- In Eatonville, the townspeople see a woman coming down the street and begins to talk about her to Pheoby Watson on her porch
- Thought she was going to marry
- Where all dat money her husband took and died and left her?
- Pheoby goes to Janie's house, the woman that was coming down the street, to inform her of the accusations being made about her. So, Janie decides to tell Pheoby her love story.
- It all started when Janie kissed a guy name Johnny Taylor. Her Nanny saw and forced Janie to marry a guy named Logan Killicks.
- Janie needs to be in a secure relationship
- Janie has been with Logan for about a year and she still doesn't have feelings for him. She then spots a guy named Joe Starks down the road and they begin to flirt. They catch feelings for each other.
- Janie and Logan got in an argument so Janie ran away with Joe and decided to get married and run off to another town in Florida.
