Tring started as a market town because there was plenty of transport, with rivers, canals and wharves. Tring started to develop into this in 1793 to 1835
In 1835 a railway was built, making it more of a trading town, with more transport
In 1950, after WW2, a plastics factory was opened, so this settlement changed from a market town to an industrial town, because more people started to work in Tring after WW2.
Tring is now a commuter town and has been since 1975, after the A41 and the M25 was built through the town
