  • Off with your head!

  • Finally a fair Law.
  • When Charles the first was executed, his death roused up a civil war that would last from 1642 to 1649
  • NO! were protestant England!
  • Hey guys I'm Christian!

  • The victor of the English Civil War was the military leader Oliver Cromwell due to his "new army" tactic. He then becomes the King of England and takes over parliament.
  • GO away we have a new king and queen . . . and there Protestant!
  • Okay, I'll go, dang.
  • When Oliver Cromwell dies, the Throne is given to the nephew of Elizabeth, Charles II. Thus begins the Restoration Period and the making of the Habeas Corpus. The Habeas Corpus is the writ in which no one can be imprisoned without a fair trial.

  • Charles did not have a son to succeed him, so James II became King, but there was one problem. . . He was Christian and most of England was Protestant!
  • Parliament was infuriated and wanted to overthrow James with his protestant daughter Mary and her husband William of Orange. Thus began the Glorious Revolution
  • Mary and William become King and Queen of England after the glorious Revolution. They sign the Bill of Rights to put an end to absolute monarchy and a limit to monarchs power.
