Storyboard Text

  • We did a pH Scale experiment using water for science class.
  • Did you know that the pH scale is a measurement of how acidic or alkaline a substance is.?
  • A pH 7 is neutral, and will appear yellow on litmus paper.
  • Anything orange to red is an acid, while green to purple is a base.
  • In the experiment, we added different solutions, like baking soda and vinegar, to water to see how it changed the pH.
  • Our results found that the tap water we tested was more alkaline on the pH scale, with a rating of 8.
  • Vinegar water came in as a pH of 3, the baking soda water at a pH of 8.  With a pH of 8, baking soda was more  corrosive than vinegar.
