  • Representatives vote 101 to 97. The Indian Removal Act was signed by President Jackson. This forced all the Indians tribes to move west.

  • President Jackson has commanded me to force you to move west. Get your things and go or we'll kill you all!
  • Why us?
  • All the Indians were forced to pack up and leave, then head west.

  • Come on, go!
  • Indians started the path to the west. Indians that didn't go were killed. The refusal of the Indians caused problems.
  • Many Indians had to face cold, diseases, and hunger. About 4,000 Cherokees died during this. The devastation effects were called the Trail of Tears because of these effects.
  • For the Indians that survived, they went on and started to rebuild their community in the west. It is now known as Northeastern Oklahoma.
