  • This discussion helped me realize that I am not the only one dealing with feeling incapable of doing the things I once enjoyed. I feel as if I am able to relate to others more than I expected.
  • Based off of what you all have just shared, it seems that when contemplating change, there are both pros and cons regarding each of the challenging tasks. Can anyone share how today's discussion made you feel?
  • I am able to recognize that changing my thoughts and feelings about what I am capable of, may allow me to engage in tasks that I always enjoyed. I have the ability to restructure my own thoughts so that I am confident in my abilities.
  • I am glad that this helped you recognize that you have support from others who are experiencing similar situations as you. Jill, could you share how this overall process means for you? 
  • Well there are others tasks that I no longer participate in out of my own choice and fear of failing. I guess if I contemplate a change regarding those, I may find that there may be pros and cons to those as well.
  • Tom, how can you apply this stage of contemplation, or weighing of pros and cons, to other aspects of your life?
  • Yes, I do. I am wondering what happens next? Now that we have discussed some possible pros and cons of changing, how do we move on from here?

  • Ah, that makes sense, I would really like that.
  • That is a wonderful question, Jill. If you decided that you would benefit more from implementing a change, then you would begin the stage of preparation. During this stage, you would begin to take action towards any modifications you must make to be successful. In your case, maybe creating a schedule for maintaining your flowers, or even set reminders to do so, may be helpful.
  • I appreciate each of your participation and contribution to this group. While change may be difficult, sometimes it is necessary to take the time to contemplate the benefits or costs of implementing them. While this may not happen immediately, it is a great step towards improving our self-confidence and motivation. I would like to thank you all for taking the time to discuss these challenging behaviors with me.
