On October 2nd, 1869 Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born. He was born in the Porbandar. Gandhi's parents were devoted to Hinduism. Gandhi got his understanding of his parents.
Gandi decided to go to Britain for college where he studied to be a lawyer. After graduating he spent time in South Africa and many treated him as a 2nd class citizen, just because he wasn't from South Africa.

On April 13 1919 people gathered to hear a man speak about non-violence. General Dyer had made a rule that said people couldn't gather and was on his way to stop it. He had all of the troupes and was going to kill everyone to make sure they don't underestimate him. The Indians saw the gunshots and the people around them dropped to the ground dead. They looked for a way out and couldn't find one so they jumped down a well.
After protesting and staying peaceful, Gandhi decided to start a march. It was called The Salt March and lasted 24 days for him and his silent protesters to walk across all of India. Even after doing this, the British government still didn't back down.
On August 15th, 1947 Great Britain finally granted India with it's independence.
Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated on 30 January 1948 in the compound of Birla House. a large mansion in New Delhi. As Gandhi began to walk toward the dais, Nathuram Vinayak Godse (assassin of Mahatma Gandhi) out from the crowd flanking Gandhi's path and fired three bullets into Gandhi's chest.
