  • In 1929, a threatening event would happen-the stock market crash. This tragedy would usher in the time known as the Great Depression
  • umm... bad news
  • Due to this economic disrupt, the flow of many essential commodities was ruined, and poverty set in. Another main cause of this great poverty was the Dust Bowl.
  • This is it?
  • Here is the food
  • The Dust Bowl was a terrible happening-large storms of dust would cloud up and destroy the countryside, and everything it touched would be buried. This also ruined farms, causing job loss and poverty.
  • Not my crops!
  • The Dust Bowl was caused largely by poor farming techniques. Dryland farming was often executed poorly, causing large amounts of dust and soil to be lying around. This would then lead to the infamous dust storms.
  • As cash flow around the nation declined, many business owners would liquidate their companies, leading to lots of joblessness. Many would migrate from their home state to find work.
  • Sorry son, he sold the business.
  • That was my job! I have a family...
  • In the end, after President Roosevelt introduced the New Deal, America was back on its feet. It would not quickly heal from the scars, however. Some states to this day still bear the mark, even though they are mostly recovered.
