  • Text
  • The teacher provided instruction and modeled strategies before the students were expected to go back to their desks to complete their individual work.
  • Context
  • Observation- Earth & Orange peel.
  • ELL students have the opportunity to choose form a wide variety of ebooks that provide audio assistance to support their interests and reading success. I observed two boys discussing an ebook that they had both read about superheroes.
  • Task
  • - Finish writing your reviews - Edit grammar -Insert picture
  • Four different small groups meet at separate times with the teacher. This ensures that each student has an opportunity to read and discuss reading books that correlate with their individual reading level. I was a little surprised to see the vast difference in reading levels. However, each group seemed interested in the book they were reading and discussing.
  • The End
  • Respecting the social aspect of learning, the teacher regularly changes seating arrangements in a purposeful manner. This allows students the opportunity to encounter different points of view in their discussions with peers. I especially noticed the helpful degree of interaction during partner experiments and written conclusions.
  • Varied tasks are assigned in the class to promote student involvement and interest. Students had a choice of what they wanted to write a review about. Once the they were complete, they loved going around the room and reading each others' reviews. They also shared their favorite things about what they read and what made them want to know more.
