Unsaturated fatty acid
Saturated fatty acid
Welcome to Ms. Meade's Bilayer
This steroid is cholesterol, which she puts in animal cell membranes to make more steroids.
Beware! The witch makes hydrophobic compounds, or lipids, to store her magic energy. Some of potions and creations include fats, steroids, and phospholipids.
She links glycerol with three fatty acids using ester linkages to make fats. By adding double bonds, her potion makes unsaturated fatty acids. Fats help Ms. Meade with magic energy storage.
She creates steroids by fusing 4 carbon rings together in her cauldron and attaches functional groups to make them function differently. Steroids give Ms. Meade her super strength.
She makes phospholipids using glycerol and 2 fatty acids. They form a bilayer and are major components of cell membranes. Phospholipids shield Ms. Meade from curses.
Watch out! You never know what Ms. Meade could be brewing in her dangerous bilayer.
