  • Mexicans Welcomes Anglo-American Immigrants 
  • Welcome to Mexico!
  • 1835 New Dictator of Mexico
  • We are done nothing we can do now!!
  • Battle of Gonzales
  • The Mexican welcomes the Anglo- Americans because they hoped they would become loyal Mexican citizens and keep the territory from falling into the hands of the U.S. The citizens continued to speak English , formed own school, and had closer trading ties with the U.S. than the Mexico. 
  •  Battle of the Alamo
  • Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna declared himself dictator. He ordered the Mexican military to disarm the Texans as soon as possible. 
  • Battle of San Jacinto
  • The Gonzales settlement receives a cannon from Mexican government. The relationship between the Mexican government and the colonist faded. they fired the spiked cannon with the other side thinking they actually fire it.  They said "come and take it" making them come and get it if they really want it. 
  • Texas Statehood 
  • December 1835 a group of Texans volunteers occupied the Alamo. For the Texans it symbols a  of heroic resistance and a rallying cry in their struggle for independence. 
  • This battle lasted less than 20 minutes. It sealed the fate of 3 republicans. Santa Anna had divided his forces in a three-pronged. The Texans had been in retreat since March 13. 
  • The United States would go on to acquire not only the Republic of Texas. In 1845 but Mexican lands to the west after the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo ended the Mexican War in 1848. Texans retreat at some point.
