Pennies have been a part of our history for a long time. In fact, they were the first coins with a president's head on them, so I'm not sure why we want to do away with them.
I object! Pennies are costing us .7 more cents that they are actually worth!
Well, why aren't we taking this out on the nickel? The nickel costs half what it's worth!
That is not the point!
Then tell me the point!
Well, in the process of making pennies, American taxpayers lose 50 million dollars!
Okay, that's reasonable, go on.
There are even rising costs on metal and zinc, which will mean that in the future, the penny will cost even more.
Right now, the procedure that you're are talking about isn't politically doable, but we can definitely think about that for the future!
Thank you! I just wanted to make sure that I was heard.
